It's one of the most common questions we get — and the honest answer is that there is no fixed price. What we can tell you is exactly what affects the cost, so you know what to expect before you ask for a quote.
What our customers say about trimming in Málaga
The best way to build your trust in us is to show you what other customers think of our work:

Many of our clients appreciate the transparency and professionalism with which we handle each project. They feel reassured knowing that there are no surprises regarding the final cost or unexpected delays, and they value the ongoing communication we maintain throughout the entire process.

1. The condition of the palm
A palm that has been trimmed regularly every year is significantly cheaper to work on than one that has been left for several years with heavy dead frond buildup. More dead material means more time, more debris to remove, and more careful work to avoid damaging the healthy crown.
If your palms have been maintained consistently, you will always pay less per visit than if you are starting from a neglected state.
2. Access to the palm
How close we can get with our equipment matters. If a truck or waste container can be positioned directly alongside the palm, the job is faster and cleaner. If the palm is in a difficult location — behind a pool, inside a tight patio, or at the end of a long garden — the additional handling time is reflected in the price.
Easy access means lower cost. Difficult access means more labour, more time, and a higher quote.
3. The type of trim
There are two main types of palm trimming, and they are priced differently:
Standard clean — removing dead fronds, old fruit clusters and dry material from the crown. This is routine maintenance and the most common type of work we carry out.
Trim with trunk peeling (pelado de tronco) — in addition to the crown work, the trunk is cleaned and shaped by removing the old frond bases. This takes considerably longer and requires more skill, but leaves the palm looking completely clean from base to crown.
4. The species of palm
Not all palms are the same to work on. Washingtonia palms, which are common across the Costa del Sol, are generally more straightforward and tend to cost less. Date palms (Phoenix canariensis) are more complex — the crown structure is denser, the fronds are heavier, and the work requires more time and precision.
One thing we always do regardless of species: we climb using a proper bicycle-style climbing system, never metal spikes. Spikes damage the trunk and create entry points for disease. Clean cuts, proper technique, every time.
5. Palm removal costs
For full palm removal, the main factors are height, trunk diameter, and the amount of dead material accumulated. Beyond that:
Where the debris goes makes a significant difference. If trunks and material can be lowered directly to the ground and loaded, the job is faster. If the palm is in a tight space where each section needs to be lowered carefully on ropes to avoid damaging the surroundings, that requires more time and a higher level of skill.
6. Tree work costs
For trees other than palms, the variables multiply further. The species matters, the size matters, and so does the method: some trees can be worked from the ground or with an elevated platform (pluma), while others require climbing. Proximity to power lines or structures adds complexity and requires additional precautions.
There is genuinely no standard price for tree work — each job needs to be assessed on its own terms.
Why we always quote in person (or by photo)
Given everything above, it should be clear why we do not publish price lists. A quote based on a description alone is either going to be too high (to cover unknown risks) or too low (and lead to a nasty surprise).
What we do instead: send us a WhatsApp message with a few photos of the palm or tree, your location, and a brief description of what you need. We will come back to you with a clear, no-obligation quote — usually the same day.
No commitment, no surprises.
We hope we have answered your questions and that we can be your chosen provider for How much does palm tree trimming cost on the Costa del Sol?.
